Connectivity

Whether your sites demand high bandwidth, highly available, redundant Ethernet connectivity, or low cost but high performance FTTP connections, or even wireless connectivity, Nasstar’s unique range of connectivity partners means we can source the best connectivity for you, right across the UK.

Business Ethernet services

When it comes to business connectivity, every organisation can benefit from faster speed and a more reliable connection. That’s where Business Ethernet connectivity can help. It offers plentiful bandwidth, with symmetric upload and download speeds of up to 10 Gbps and the high availability and stringent SLAs a business needs.

Nasstar partners with all the UK’s leading Ethernet carriers to offer a range of Ethernet services, from single links to multi-supplier and guaranteed diverse dual-Ethernet services. Through our range of connectivity partners, we make sure each of your sites gets the best value connectivity, finding the local on-net provider for each of your sites.

Business broadband

Whether remote workers need reliable, always-on access to the internet or cloud, your smaller sites or retail stores need a more cost-effective private network, or you want to add lower cost bandwidth to enable SD-WAN services, our business broadband solutions can provide the connectivity back to our ICC core network, enabling you to connect efficiently and transform your organisation.

We can future-proof your broadband estate too, from superfast Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) services with speeds up to 1 Gbps to SOGEA and MPF services that bridge the gap between BT’s 2027 PSTN switch-off and nationwide full-fibre availability.

Wireless connectivity

Sometimes you need connectivity to a site quickly. Other times, it might not be cost-effective or practical to run a cable into your premises. For these scenarios our range of flexible wireless solutions allows you to connect back into your network and access services using a range of 4G, 5G and satellite connectivity services.

Our expertise

With more than 25 years working in the networking and connectivity space, we have plenty of experience in supporting customers with managed WAN deployments. Our security-driven networking approach can support you with access to core applications, with advanced reporting that identifies what data is entering and leaving at the application level. Our teams pride themselves on providing an optimal blend of security and managed WAN functionality.

At Nasstar, we take the time to get to know your business and actively review each site to best advise on new connectivity options as they become available. Our networks have complete flexibility to evolve as your business changes and grows. As your managed WAN providers, we take care of everything from design, consultancy, and transition support during migration to onboarding, assurance and reporting.

FAQs

Managed WAN (Wide Area Network) is a connectivity solution offering secure, high-speed connections for businesses, particularly those with multiple locations. The service is managed by a managed WAN provider such as Nasstar, enabling you to focus on the day-to-day business activities without worrying about connectivity.

A managed WAN service is a connectivity service delivered by a managed service provider like Nasstar, typically including infrastructure, software, and technical support. A managed WAN service often provides proactive monitoring, fault resolution, and hardware & software maintenance too. The managed service provider ensures day to day operations of your WAN and all associated network infrastructure components using centralised service monitoring tools and standard service delivery processes, with expertly trained service personnel.

Almost any type of business in any industry can benefit from managed WAN services, whether you’re a large international corporation or an SME. If your business has any of the following objectives or challenges, you can effectively benefit from partnering with a managed network service provider like Nasstar:

  • You want to boost security or handle vast amounts of sensitive data
  • You lack internal networking expertise or don’t have the budget to hire someone
  • You don’t have huge amounts of time to dedicate to network management
  • You need to put a controlled, predictable IT budget in place
  • You need to effectively maintain compliance or adhere to regulatory requirements
  • You want to future-proof your connectivity and remain competitive

By outsourcing your networking to a managed WAN provider, you can experience several benefits for your business, including:

  • Improved performance – With managed WAN, network traffic can be prioritised by application or moved away from congested network links, improving the speed and efficiency of your applications.
  • Future-proofing – Managed WAN solutions are scalable and adaptable, and with a managed WAN provider keeping a finger on the pulse of innovation, you can ensure your business stays ahead of the curve.
  • Business continuity – Offering a reliable network that can withstand outages, multiple connections for ensuring service continuity, resilient networks for maximum availability, and fail-over options, managed WAN supports optimal business continuity.
  • Enhanced security – Sophisticated and strict security measures built-in to your managed WAN solution can help to ensure your business connectivity remains secure.
  • Cost savings – By opting for a third-party provider to deliver your WAN solution, you can potentially save money on circuits, as well as maintenance costs compared to managing the service yourself.

SD-WAN is essentially an evolution of WAN that leverages software to address many of the limitations of traditional WAN, making it more suitable to meet the needs of modern, cloud-centric, dynamic businesses.

With a focus on enhancing application performance SD-WAN is a more modern, software-driven approach that provides greater flexibility through centralised visibility and control of business-critical traffic across a network infrastructure designed to adapt to changing business demands.

Nasstar’s Managed WAN Services are designed with various levels to address the needs of our customers in many sectors including government, healthcare, finance, legal, industrial and retail.

Our Managed WAN Services are continuously evolving with the demands of our customers and the fast-paced nature of the industry in which we operate.

Nasstar has the flexibility to develop customised products and services for customers whose requirements fall outside of the available managed network service packages. By working closely with our Service Delivery Management and Product Management teams, customers can experience a very specific service that delivers the outcomes they require to improve their business.

Yes. The integration of two networks can be complex and disruptive depending on the size and nature of the two networks. Network integration is a common requirement for many of our customers, but we have the expertise to design and scope out the steps - whilst avoiding the pitfalls - needed to succeed when merging two networks.

Nasstar offers market leading connectivity solutions including private Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), Direct Internet Access services, point-to-point or point-to-multi-point connectivity, cloud connectivity, and access into tier 1 data centres, helping customers stay connected to whatever services they need. We also offer a full suite of managed services, with additional security and SD-WAN overlay services to help optimise and protect your network.

Nasstar's Ethernet circuits are high-speed, dedicated fibre connections that provide reliable internet or network access, with speeds ranging from 100 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, available with a variety of resilience options. We also offer a range of business grade broadband solutions, including Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and future-proofed copper-based services such as SOGEA. For sites that are more difficult to connect, we can also build wireless and satellite capabilities into our networking solutions.

Openreach is phasing out its analogue telephone network by January 2027 to make way for faster, more reliable full-fibre connections. This transition will improve internet speeds and reliability, but broadband services based on a traditional telephone line (WLR) will need to be replaced before the switch off. Speak to Nasstar about the range of options available to ensure you stay connected.

We can offer a wide range of resilience options according to your business needs and budget, from dual-Ethernet, single supplier guaranteed diversity to multi-supplier dual ethernet, or multi-technology backup.

All of Nasstar's connectivity solutions are available as a wires-only service, allowing you to bring your own hardware. All of Nasstar’s Managed Network services are supplied with cutting-edge equipment from market leading hardware vendors including Cisco, Juniper and Fortinet.

Unlike most of the UK, the Hull area’s telephone network was never incorporated into the General Post Office’s national telephone network (which later became BT). The telephone network in Hull continues to be run by KCOM, who have invested £100 million upgrading the network to full fibre.

Nasstar has a strong relationship with KCOM, born out of our acquisition of their national ICT business in 2021. Our history, networking assets and multiple points of interconnect to KCOM in Hull make Nasstar the perfect supplier to deliver resilient Ethernet circuits between Hull and the rest of the UK.
