Nasstar Hosted Desktop is a platform for all your virtual applications, ranging from the most commonly used, such as Microsoft Office and email, to apps that are bespoke to your business or industry. Application virtualisation, hosting and delivery are at the heart of our platform, and we categorise apps into 'on-demand', 'online' and 'published'.

On-demand apps

Nasstar's Hosted Desktop platform already hosts an extensive range of popular apps which can be made available to your users with the click of a mouse. On-demand apps are provisionedfrom the App Portal directly to a user's 'Start menu'. Examples include the Microsoft Office suite, Skype, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project. Our partners and customers have access to the App Portal, giving them control over apps and ensuring that each user has access to the tools they need to do their work.

Published apps

On-demand apps are just one of the many benefits of switching your IT to our Hosted Desktop service. Invariably, however, every business has one or more apps that are specific to their industry or even custom built for their business. Nasstar works with the software vendors of these apps to offer hosting solutions and application virtualisation, and serve them up into the customer's Hosted Desktop. Over the years we have worked with many different software vendors and seen many different types of software with different requirements and dependencies. Nasstar works with its partners and these software vendors to ensure that the end client has a complete cloud solution and can access all the apps they need to run their business within the Hosted Desktop environment.

Web based apps

You may have web based apps that are hosted already and which you use by logging in through a web browser. Sometimes known as 'Software as a Service' these apps are hosted by the software vendor or a distributor and you login through a web page to use them. These hosted apps can be accessed through your Hosted Desktop web browser too - sometimes they may need a browser 'plug-in' to work properly and Nasstar supports these meaning that you don't have to move your online apps when you adopt Hosted Desktop.
